We left no stone unturned in creating the best-performing alloy MTB wheelsets for you. From the local woodland xc race loop, beyond a remote ribbon of singletrack, to the rock-and-root strewn descent, to the white-knuckle jump trails; we wanted to create a series of wheelsets tailored for your riding. To do this, we looked at our own riding styles and the needs of similar real-world riders. The result is the Hunt Mountain line. Designed for how and where you ride, the chase for the perfect off-road experience has started.

Developed to perfectly compliment your riding, the Hunt Mountain line is grounded in serving the most dedicated riders. Across three platforms the XCWide, TrailWide and EnduroWide, every possible detail has been considered to produce wheelsets which leaves you with only one thing to do… go ride your bike!

Much like your drivetrain or suspension, we see a wheelset to be a system of the bicycle in itself and one which performs a vital function. How we chose to go about designing the ride quality, durability and serviceability were our main priorities - like it should always be.

Rims - Wide & Strong. Higher tensile strength alloys than your average MTB rim

For our MTB alloy rims we use only the highest specification 6066-T6 and 6069-T6 alloys which provide considerably higher Ultimate Tensile Strength than 6061-T6.

Wider rims have been chosen to give increased tyre support during hard cornering and better tracking when the trail turns rough. Hunt H-Lock Rim design provides extra tyre security during hard cornering and aggressive riding. The raised bead locks on either side of the channel running through the centre of the rim locks your tyre in place to prevent tyre burp.

Spokes - High count, triple butted, PSR Re-inforced heads.

Higher spoke counts mean an increase in stiffness and overall robustness. Using the highest quality Pillar triple butted spokes with PSR (Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement a patented extra wide 2.2mm butt at the head of the spoke) has allowed us to not only create a stronger wheel, but one which does not add a weight penalty. Maintaining a high spoke count gives you reassurance that these wheels will stay true and round even after multiple seasons of use both on and off the race track. Rather than sacrifice durability and cut corners, we have chosen to spec more spokes due to the multiple benefits it offers. This was the right option for us at Hunt to make a stronger and more durable wheelset able to handle those blind descents and unexpected rock/root jumping out at the last moment. We think it is worth the effort to get this right and create wheel for real world riding – not just what looks good on paper.

Hubs - 4.3 degree Rapid Engage with large double sealed bearings

The Hunt RapidEngage MTB hubs have been specced based on our demands for a MTB wheelset. That is a superfast engagement, long lasting hub pawls no matter the conditions you’re riding in and be optimized to accommodate the latest 148x12mm Boost (Rear) and 110x15mm Boost (Front) standard as well as normal width MTB hubs. These oversized axles have been utilised to provide unrivalled torsional stiffness. Six multi-tooth pawls offer super low engagement of 4.3 degrees which means you will be able to put the power down straight out of the corners and not have any lag when jumping up those techy climbs. Using the DoubleTooth system means each individual pawl has two teeth, so you know that they won’t be budging when engaged - even in the most sloppy, horrible winter conditions. All of these details combine to create wheelsets engineered for your riding.

Peaty's Sealant

Stirring up the tyre sealant game is newcomer – Peaty’s Sealant. The non-toxic, non-hazardous sealant is revolutionary in that it does not dry out or ‘ball-up’ like many of its alternatives. The bio-degradable pellets mixed into the sealant are not ‘just’ for looks but to aid in sealing up larger tyre gashes/holes. If the worse is to happen and you do blow a tyre, at least it will be spectacular!

Added to your Hunt wheels set up tubeless with Peaty’s Tyre sealant and they’re ready to roll. It takes out all of the hassle for you when they arrive on your doorstep. Simply fit the wheels to your bike, adjust to your desired riding pressure and off you go!

Huck Norris

Heading off for on that Bike Park trip or just want some piece of mind knowing your tyres are less likely to be punctured from any square edge hits? The Huck Norris tyre insert is your answer. A high density, closed cell foam insert, fitted inside your tyre. It puts an end to those horrible rim-dinging noises and allows you to get on with your riding. It does not protect your tyres from sharp trail objects, but the chances of splitting the tire between the rim and rock/root is reduced. And only tipping the scales at 84g for the full length 29er option – it is worth its weight (and $£¥) in dozens of pre-maturely thrown out tyres or headaches spent setting up tubeless in between practice and race runs!
