The Purpose.

Based on the HUNT’s award-winning 4 Season Disc, designed to deliver all-road and all-season performance with reduced environmental impact through material specification choices and the use of recycled content. The HUNT Sustain Phase One 4 Season All-Road Disc wheel is a fully European sourced, manufactured, and built wheelset featuring rims made with 75% recycled content and Zero Coat spokes and nipples to reduce energy and chemical use.

With a 23mm wide internal rim width optimized for modern road and gravel tyres, and quick engaging (7.5-degree) HUNT Europa 4 Season Hubset, this wheel is built to embark on high-speed journeys over paved roads or off-the-beaten-path. Designed to offer responsiveness on the tarmac, while also offering durability and reliability for off-road adventures.

Made from strong and lightweight 6000 series heat-treated rim comprised of 75% recycled content. An asymmetric shape which is inverted from front to rear to provide balanced higher spoke tensions meaning your spokes stay tight for the long term.

HUNT Europa 4 Season Hubset

Light, reliable, and easy-to-service. These hubs feature a 48T heat-treated stainless-steel ratchet ring combined with 3 pawls, fitted with individual leaf springs to deliver a fast 7.5°engagement angle and proven durability. Made in Europe.

Recycled Carbon Fibre Content - The 4 Season All-Road wheelset is hand-built with rims comprised of 75% recycled content, while maintaining the same durability and performance riders have come to expect from a HUNT 4 Season wheel. 30% of the recycled aluminium is sourced from recycled post-consumer alloy such as drink cans, while the other 45% is comprised of recycled content from the industrial sector, such as off-cuts and shavings from CNC processing.

Zero Coated Spokes and Nipples – In an effort to reduce unnecessary usage of chemical processes and energy, these wheelsets are built with silver spokes and nipples. The process of coating a spoke or nipple offers no advantage for performance or durability (unlike anodizing alloy rims, which protects the surface) thus we’ve opted to build these wheels with as few electrochemical processes as possible.

Made in Europe – All HUNT wheels are hand-built, but to further reduce transportations emissions across the Sustain Phase One range, we have worked with European based rim, hub, and spoke manufacturers to produce and hand build these wheelsets in Europe.

Tyres

For the Sustain Phase One 4 Season All-Road, HUNT recommends a 28-42mm tyre for best performance, tyre widths between 28mm and 50mm are also safe to use. You must not exceed the maximum tyre pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tire manufacturer if this is lower. You must not exceed the maximum pressure stated on your tyre. Note: best performance is usually gained by using tyre pressures lower than the maximum, you can see our blog post about this, read here. Tubeless-ready for lower weight and rolling resistance.

RECYCLED CONTENT RIMS

Made from strong and lightweight 6000 series heat-treated aluminium alloy, comprised of 75% recycled content. The asymmetric shape is inverted from front to rear to provide balanced higher spoke tensions meaning your spokes stay tight for the long term. A wide rim with 23mm internal dimension and 27mm external dimension creates an optimal tyre profile for wider road tyres, giving excellent grip and lower rolling resistance.

Light, reliable, and easy-to-service. These hubs feature a 48T heat-treated stainless-steel ratchet ring combined with 3 pawls and individual leaf springs to deliver a fast 7.5°engagement angle and proven durability.

NIPPLES

To accompany these high-end spokes, we selected brass nipples. Brass is strong and corrosion resistant, with self-lubricating properties to prevent issues that can arise from grit and salt corroding the fine threads in alloy nipples. As with the spokes, these nipples feature nickel coating only to eliminate the chemical and energy usage required in the anodization process.

Precision stainless steel cartridge bearings with waterproof grease specially selected for the worst weather

Spokes

Hand-built with top-of-the-range, reinforced Sapim D-Light double butted J-bend spokes for durability. Double butted spokes reduce weight and provide greater elasticity to maintain optimal tension and resist fatigue, all leading to excellent durability and long spoke service life. As with the nipples, these spokes feature zero coating ensuring that we reduce unnecessary manufacturing steps.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 130 kg (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If the system is over 120 kg then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
